Medium Diradical Character, Small Hole and Electron Reorganization Energies and Ambipolar Transistors in Difluorenoheteroles

چکیده
Four difluorenoheteroles having a central quinoidal core with the heteroring varying as furan, thiophene, its dioxide derivative and pyrrole have shown to be medium character diradicals. Solid-state structures, optical, photophysical, magnetic, electrochemical properties been discussed in terms of diradical character, variation aromatic captodative effects (electron affinity). Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) prepared, showing balanced hole electron mobilities order 10−3 cm2 V−1 s−1 or ambipolar charge transport which is first inferred from their redox amphoterism. Quantum chemical calculations show that electrical behavior originated produces similar reorganization energies for transports. The vision simultaneously bearing pseudo-hole pseudo-electron defects might justify reduced values both regimes. Structure-function relationships between are revealed.

Onset of diradical character in small nanosized graphene patches.
A family of small graphene patches, i.e., rectangular polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), that have both zigzag and armchair edges is investigated to establish their ground state electronic structure. Broken symmetry density functional theory (DFT) and plane wave DFT were used to characterize the onset of diradical character via relative energies of open-shell and closed-shell singlet states. The...

We demonstrate a strategy for designing high-performance, ambipolar, acene-based field-effect transistor (FET) materials, which is based on the replacement of C-H moieties by nitrogen atoms in oligoacenes. By using this strategy, two organic semiconductors, 6,13-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)anthradipyridine (1) and 8,9,10,11-tetrafluoro-6,13-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)-1-azapentacene (3), wer...
متن کاملElectron and hole polaron accumulation in low-bandgap ambipolar donor-acceptor polymer transistors imaged by infrared microscopy
A resurgence in the use of the donor-acceptor approach in synthesizing conjugated polymers has resulted in a family of high-mobility ambipolar systems with exceptionally narrow energy bandgaps below 1 eV. The ability to transport both electrons and holes is critical for device applications such as organic light-emitting diodes and transistors. Infrared spectroscopy offers direct access to the l...
متن کاملGiant electron-hole transport asymmetry in ultra-short quantum transistors
Making use of bipolar transport in single-wall carbon nanotube quantum transistors would permit a single device to operate as both a quantum dot and a ballistic conductor or as two quantum dots with different charging energies. Here we report ultra-clean 10 to 100 nm scale suspended nanotube transistors with a large electron-hole transport asymmetry. The devices consist of naked nanotube channe...
